The basics of sugaring

    • Intimate areas/face: Every 4-5 weeks

    • Legs/arms: Every 4-6 weeks

    • Underarms: Every 2-3 weeks

Regular sugaring targets growth at the anagen phase* for longer-lasting results, with finer hair and fewer sessions over time.

*The anagen phase is the active growth stage — and the best time to sugar. Removing hair at this stage helps weaken the follicle over time, supporting finer regrowth and longer-lasting results.

  • Yes, compared to waxing. By removing hair in its natural growth direction, it pulls from the root, leading to slower regrowth and smoother skin. Waxing pulls against the grain, so sometimes hair breaks off instead of being fully removed.

  • No. When people say they experience more hair growth after sugaring, it can be due to a few factors, including:

    1. Initial Reaction: After the first treatments, hair can appear thicker or coarser as it transitions from its previous growth cycle, especially if they have switched from shaving to sugaring.

    2. Hair Growth Cycles: Hair grows in cycles, with different hairs being in different phases (anagen, catagen, and telogen) at any given time. When you start sugaring, it can bring more hair into the anagen phase for removal, leading to more hair growing back in a shorter time.

    3. Inconsistent Treatments: If appointments are spaced too far apart, hair can grow back to varying lengths and thicknesses. This inconsistency can give the illusion of increased hair growth.

    4. Comparison with Other Methods: People coming from shaving might find that sugaring feels different. Shaved hair often feels stubbly and coarse, while sugared hair can grow back softer. The perception of “more” hair might stem from the difference in texture rather than actual density.

    5. Individual Patterns: Each person’s hair growth pattern is unique. Some may naturally experience increased hair growth due to hormonal changes or other factors unrelated to sugaring.

In summary, while sugaring does not increase hair growth, individual experiences can vary based on several factors. Over time, with consistent treatments, many find that hair becomes finer and less dense.

YOUR HAIR

  • Sugaring is kind to all skin types. Our sugar paste takes off dead skin cells and hair while keeping your live skin safe. Just let us know if your skin’s sensitive, and we’ll make sure your treatment is tailored to you.

  • Most clients find sugaring reduces ingrown hairs compared to waxing and shaving. It pulls hair in the direction of growth, minimising breakage and smoothing your skin.

  • If you’re on medication, consult your physician before booking to make sure your skin’s ready for sugaring. Some meds like isotretinoin (i.e. Accutane) can alter your skin, increasing the risk of tearing and irritation. Wait 3–6 months after stopping these meds and consider a patch test to ensure your skin’s up for it.

  • Topical treatments like Retin-A or Differin can make your skin more sensitive. We recommend waiting at least 3 months after discontinuing these products before sugaring to avoid irritation.

YOUR SKIN

  • No. The sugar paste sticks only to the hair, not the skin, causing less irritation. It also removes hair in the direction of growth, reducing tugging. While pain tolerance varies, many find sugaring to be gentler.

  • Yes ma’am you can! As long as you’re using a period cup or a fresh tampon. Sensitivity might be heightened, but we’ll make sure you’re comfortable.

  • Yes, as long as you’re past your first trimester and no later than a week before your EDD. Sugaring is generally safe, but hormonal shifts might make your skin more sensitive. Consult your gynaecologist before booking, and keep us in the loop about your condition to ensure a smooth experience.

  • We recommend waiting 1–3 months (natural birth) or 3–6 months (caesarean) before scheduling a session. Anytime before that, we’ll need a written approval from your gynae. We might suggest a longer wait to ensure your skin and any healing areas aren’t stressed.

YOUR BODY

Brazilians

  • Brazilian: Removes all hair from the front, labia, and undercarriage (between the cheeks), with the option to leave a strip or triangle. Ideal for a fully bare or nearly bare look.n text goes here

French: removes all hair in the bikini area—excluding the lips + upper labia—while including the undercarriage (between the cheeks) for a clean, comfortable finish.

Bikini: removes unwanted hair from the sides, inner thigh, and the top

  • We offer facial sugaring for the upper lip, lower lip, chin, jawline, and full face (excluding eyebrows).

WHAT’S WHAT?

  • The First-Time Brazilian is for anyone new to Nuevavilla Esthetics LLC, regardless of prior experience. It includes our Soothing mask + a goodie bag.

For regulars who like to keep it smooth, the Brazilian Maintenance is your move. Book within 4-5 weeks to hit those hairs in the anagen phase.

  • Our standard Brazilian is $75. A reduced rate is offered for maintenance within 4-5 weeks, when regrowth is shorter and easier to manage.

At this stage, more hair is in the anagen phase, which supports finer, slower regrowth over time. Staying consistent helps improve results — smoother skin, less density, and longer-lasting outcomes.

  • The 5-week window is fixed to keep things fair and consistent for all clients. Once it’s exceeded, regrowth is typically longer and requires more time, which is why the first-time rate applies.

To avoid this, we recommend booking around the 4-week mark to give yourself some flexibility.

THE BRAZILIAN EXPERIENCE

The sugaring ritual

  • Ideal hair length: 6mm — about the size of a jasmine rice grain. If longer, we’ll trim it. Just shaved? Wait 10–14 days for regrowth.

  • Exfoliate 2 days prior but skip the day before and day of. Shower before your session — no lotions, creams, oils. Doing your underarms? Skip deodorant. Hold off workouts right before your appointment.

  • Hold off on workouts (yes, even yoga) right before and after your appointment. Exercise ramps up blood flow, making your skin more sensitive and potentially increasing discomfort.

  • A little discomfort is normal, especially for first-timers or those sensitive to pain. Consider taking painkillers 30 minutes before if needed. On your period? Book earlier in your cycle. Need a break? Just say the word — we're here for your comfort.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Small ones can happen when capillaries rupture. It’s common with sensitive skin or coarse hair — it means the hair was successfully removed from the root. So if you ever see this during your sugar appointment, don’t be alarmed — this is a GOOD thing.

  • If you’re feeling uncomfortable, just let us know. We’re all about your comfort, so feel free to take a breather and catch your breath. We’ve got your back.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING SUGARING

  • Avoid for 48 hours: workouts, tight clothing, exfoliating, swimming, spas, hot tubs, suntanning — anything that creates heat or sweat. This helps prevent irritation and keeps your skin smooth and healthy.

  • Bumps or redness are normal, especially if it’s your first time or after a break — it’ll settle in 48–72 hours. Avoid heat, heavy/creamy products and picking on your skin. Doing your face or back? Do a patch test.

  • Shaving causes ingrowns + disrupts smoothness. Stick to regular sugaring for best results especially in areas where hair grows in different directions.

  • It’s best to hit pause for 24–48 hours after a Brazilian, French, or bikini. Freshly sugared skin is sensitive — sweat and bacteria can irritate or cause ingrown hairs.

  • UV exposure can ramp up your skin’s sensitivity, and since sugaring might make your skin a bit more delicate, it’s best to avoid the sun for 24–48 hours before and after your appointment.
